We wanted to start our first newsletter of 2021 wishing all of our artists, industry, partners, and friends the best for this year to come.

God knows it’s been a rough 2020, and 2021 won’t come without its challenges, but the beauty of the strength of art as an expression, is that it can thrive in the harshest of environments, and we know the music scene, both talent, and business, is a resilient as they come.

So on that note, we kick off the year with one of our favorite showcases and partners, Eurosonic Noorderslag Festival.
The festival will be held digitally, and looking through the delegates list we are happy to see it already flowing with so many of our contacts and partners from all over the world ready to meet, network, and experience with us some of the most interesting emerging European talents, all from the comfort of our couches.

Please remember that the Danish industry can apply for support, on usual MXD terms, to purchase delegate passes for the festival.

From Denmark, we are happy to be represented this year by four wonderful acts selected by the Eurosonic booking team. As the bands could not be on stage in Groningen, we are happy that Roskilde Festival could step in and produced TV live performances for three of the acts, exclusively for Eurosonic.
All four performances will be broadcasted live worldwide, and free to all audiences, on the Eurosonic Channels.

In the video below watch Anders Wahren, Head of booking at Roskilde Festival, introduce our four Danish acts and give us a sneak peek into what to expect from their live performances.

The Eurosonic 2021 Danish acts:

Casper Clausen, one of our most prolific songwriters is out with his solo album August 1st on the beloved City Slang Records. Casper is most known for his work with Efterklang as their charismatic frontman, but “Better Way” has already charmed the likes MOJO, Uncut, Clash, and as Stereogum notes “It’s an album that can evoke both Caribou’s exploratory psych and dance tracks and the War On Drugs’ heartland rock mirage, all in search of an emotional truth that can’t quite be expressed by words.”

Catch Casper’s performance:
Channel: ESNS 02
Wednesday, Jan 13
20:25 – 20:40

Drew Sycamore

With four (4x) singles in the Danish Top 100 Radio list in 2020 and a totally wowed crowd at both her Reeperbahn shows in 2020, Drew is one of the most talked-about pop acts from Denmark at the start of 2021. GAFFA gave her debut 5 stars and noted that “her songs have been built on a solid foundation, and her rare musical gifts include a new sound with old references.”

Watch Drew Sycamore’s performance:
Channel: ESNS 01
Thursday, Jan 14
21:15 – 21:30

Konvent

Konvent is a four-piece like no other. They are signed to Napalm Records, played Copenhell and Roskilde Festival, and are booked for over 10 festivals in 2021 alone. To cite Revolver Mag “Danish extreme-metal rising stars Konvent cite Candlemass, Cult of Luna and Nails among their primary inspirations, so it should come as no surprise that the band absolutely crushes. Led by guttural vocalist Rikke Emilie List, the quartet make a particularly dense, dark, and monolithic brand of death-metal-inflected doom that evokes the likes of YOB at their most punishing.”

Catch Konvent’s full performance:
Channel: ESNS 04
Thursday, Jan 14
 22:35 – 22:50

Calby

And last but not least is Calby, one of the notable acts which have been nominated for the renowned Music Moves Europe Talent Awards, and as Soundvenue has so eloquently put it, his music is “the intersection between soul, pop, Americana and road trip-rock and together they form a perfect timeless soundtrack”

Calby will perform as part of the Music Moves Europe Talent Awards
Friday, January 15th
Time: 21:15-21:30

Please join us to catch a glimpse and fall in love with our Eurosonic acts of 2021. And remember all channels will be accessible completely for free anywhere in the world via ESNS.nl
