Once again this year, we are inviting several key international industry professionals to attend SPOT Festival. All of them will be joining us at the MXD Superball @ RADAR as part of the SPOT+ programme, but until the festival kicks off on May 4th, we will be bringing you brief introductions to them, including where they come from, what companies they work for, what bands they want to check out at Spot, and much more. We look forward to seeing Clémence Godard of Bird On The Wire.

Name: Clémence Godard

Company: Bird On The Wire

Title: Director / Promoter

Based in: London

Can you tell us a bit about the company’s history and roster?
BIRD ON THE WIRE was conceived by two friends with a passion for music in early 2009 and instantly brought to life with a three-day mini festival in a sweltering basement in Dalston. BOTW quickly turned into a fully running independent concert promotions company hosting events all over town including some of London’s most prestigious and unique venues. They have developed an ever-growing number of artists including The War On Drugs, Kings Of Convenience, Mac DeMarco, Nils Frahm, Angel Olsen, Ty Segall, The Tallest Man On Earth, Young Fathers, Tycho, Allah-Las to name a few, and co-founded Visions Festival.

– and a bit about the acts you personally work with at this moment?
Mac DeMarco and The War On Drugs both have big years ahead, I’m also very excited to work with new brilliant artists like Moses Sumney, Big Thief or Japanese Breakfast.

What was the moment you decided you wanted to work with music?
Probably when I was around 16 and spent every centime (the French penny) I could get my hand on for gigs and CDs (yep CDs) and realised I didn’t care much about anything else.

What are your favorite Danish acts?
Iceage, Raveonettes, Efterklang, Agnes Obel… I may have had an Aqua moment in 1997 like everyone else

Best show you’ve ever seen hands down?
Radiohead every time
