Can you tell us a bit about the company’s history and its roster?

Hamburg based BACKSPIN is Germanys oldest Hip-Hop magazine. Founded as a fanzine in 1994 it was on of the first magazines with color printed photos of graffiti in the 90s which quickly generated a lot of attention all over europe. Today BACKSPIN tries not only to reflect the German scene, but to give a stage to Hip-Hop personalities all over the world.

And can you tell us a bit about the acts you personally work with at this moment?

At the moment I work with different artists in various subscenes, always looking for exciting stories and important voices.

What was the moment you decided you wanted to work with music?

Since I was a child I’ve always been obsessed with music. When I started to get older my interests moved from pure music to background stories. I wanted to know how music was created, how artists come up with different ideas and work on them until the finished piece has been presented to people. Music journalism had been the beste way to combine my interest in music and in people’s stories.

Which acts are you looking forward to seeing this year at SPOT?

I haven’t heard everything so far but I’m looking forward to see amongst others some exciting shows from Brimheim, Combos & SØS Gunver Ryberg. Also I’m exited for the SEIN Freestyle Battle and of course to see some of the local Hip-Hop-Acts!
