We are delighted to announce that the American based and internationally acclaimed music presenter KEXP, will be coming to host their renowned Live on KEXP sessions from SPOT Festival in Aarhus in May 2022.

The music presenter and arts organisation, known for their tastemaker abilities and championing new artists, will be sharing their discoveries from the SPOT Festival line-up to their worldwide devoted audience through their various channels, as well as spotlighting four acts with their renowned sessions Live on KEXP. The sessions will feature artists Jeuru, Brimheim, JJ Paulo and Rigmor, and will be filmed in collaboration with a local team in the city of Aarhus, where Denmark’s annual music and showcase festival SPOT Festival takes place May 6th-7th. The sessions will be broadcasted to all KEXP’s international viewers after the festival, and will be hosted on site by legendary DJ, Kevin Cole.

KEXP exists to help music fans experience and discover great new music. There’s so much great music coming out of Denmark and Scandinavia from a diverse range of genres, and KEXP is excited to partner with the SPOT Festival, the premier showcase for the bands and artists making this music. We’re thrilled to be able to explore this vibrant scene and to curate and capture live sessions from SPOT artists and share these exclusive performances with the KEXP community of music lovers worldwide.” Senior Programming Advisor, Music Partnerships Strategist & Drive Time Host, Kevin Cole.

KEXP started in 1972, and have done revered in-studio sessions since the 1980’s with legendary artists such as Patti Smith, Charles Bradley and They Might be Giants, as well as acclaimed artists like The National, Florence and the Machine, The XX, Tinariwen and FKA Twigs, not to mention increased attention to relatively then-unknown acts like Of Monsters and Men, Ásgeir, and Sóley during their international collaboration with Iceland Airwaves.

The station has over 2.7 million followers in their YouTube channel, but the KEXP team will also be reflecting their SPOT Festival inspiration throughout their website, socials, as well as radio plays, in the time-span around the festival.
SPOT CEO Gunnar Madsen says, “We see the collaboration between SPOT and KEXP is a natural next step for the hard and dedicated work we do to promote Danish music. We believe that with this project Danish music will get an even stronger exposure and it will create even better opportunities for the Danish music business to look after Danish interests and needs. The fact that the collaboration involves MXD, SPOT and The Arts Foundation ensures a shared ownership and responsibility when it comes to international music promotion. We see a tremendous potential in it.

KEXP x SPOT Festival is a collaboration between KEXP, SPOT Festival, ROSA, MXD and with the kind help and support of The Danish Arts Foundation, The Ministry of Culture of Denmark and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, and The City of Aarhus.
