Can you tell us a bit about the company’s history and its roster?

Scania Sounds is a showcase festival whose first edition took place in November 2023 in Malmö. The festival aims to attract key people in the music industry to Skåne and strengthen Malmö’s position on Sweden’s music landscape. Skåne has long been a breeding ground for both talent and industry developers, however, in recent years the music industry has consolidated its focus on Stockholm and Gothenburg. This has led to many Scanian artists and industry professionals moving to the larger cities to be closer to the industry. We want to showcase the potential that exists for the music industry in Scania:

– Proximity to the continent- the advantage of being in the Öresund region and close to Copenhagen
– The possibilities for collaborations with other creative industries such as the games industry and the film industry
– A vibrant and innovative creative sector

Scania Sounds wants to offer a mix of established Scanian headliners and new promising artists from the region and from our neighbour Denmark. We want to give those artists the opportunity to take the next step in their career by being able to present themselves to an audience consisting of experts and key people in the music industry. We will, among other things, to invite booking agents, record companies, managers and organizers for other festivals and venues. At the same time, the festival is open to the public.

Which acts are you looking forward to seeing this year at SPOT?

I’m looking forward to discovering new interesting Danish artists that could be attractive for the Swedish audiences. The Popkorn Nordic showcases usually deliver !
