In the weeks leading up to SPOT Festival 2025, we’ll be introducing you to the international industry professionals who have been invited to this year’s festival by Danish artists and music companies through MXD’s new invitation pool.

Here, you can meet:

Name: Charlotte Kuhn

Company: Kick The Flame Publishing GmbH

Title: Head of Sync

Based in: Berlin / Leipzig, GERMANY

Can you tell us a bit about the company’s history and its roster?

Kick The Flame is an independent music publisher founded in 2006, dedicated to supporting unique, genre-spanning artists through innovative and hands-on publishing services. Our roster includes a diverse mix of indie talent—from electronic and neoclassical to folk, rock, and pop—and we specialize in finding the right opportunities for their music across sync, artist development, and international markets.

With a strong presence in Germany, and trusted partners worldwide, we combine in-depth local expertise with a global outlook. Our team brings experience not just as publishers, but as musicians and creatives, allowing us to work closely with artists, managers, and supervisors to deliver the best solutions for everyone involved.

We’re one of the few publishers of our size with a dedicated sync department, offering tailored pitching, licensing, and even custom songwriting sessions and camps.

And can you tell us a bit about the acts you personally work with at this moment?

I have the pleasure of working with a number of inspiring artists, but a few that stand out for me right now in the sync space are SALOMEA, CATT, and Martin Kohlstedt—each of them brings something truly unique to the table, both musically and creatively.

SALOMEA is a boundary-pushing project blending jazz, R&B, and hip-hop with socially conscious and thought-provoking lyrics. Their sound is bold, genre-fluid, and intellectually sharp—something that really resonates with my personal taste and opens up exciting sync possibilities for bold visual storytelling.

CATT is a rising voice in the indie pop world, with a sound that’s both tender and emotionally expansive. Her upcoming album is full of intimate, piano-driven songs that feel honest and cinematic—perfect for heartfelt, human-centered placements.

Martin Kohlstedt creates stunning neoclassical compositions infused with subtle electronic elements. His music carries emotional depth and atmosphere, making it a great fit for a wide range of visual projects—from film and documentaries to high-end advertising.

What was the moment you decided you wanted to work with music?

I’ve been passionate about music since childhood. I played several instruments and my interests spanned a wide range of genres, from classical to jazz, pop, and rock. So, from a young age, I knew I wanted to work in the music industry.

Which acts are you looking forward to seeing this year at SPOT?

I don’t have any specific acts on my list yet, but I’m really excited to discover new music. I usually leave showcase festivals with a few new favorite artists—and that’s one of the things I enjoy most about these events.

Best show you’ve ever seen hands down?

Beyoncé – hard to top that
