In the weeks leading up to SPOT Festival 2025, we’ll be introducing you to the international industry professionals who have been invited to this year’s festival by Danish artists and music companies through MXD’s new invitation pool.
Here, you can meet:
Name: Christopher Lewin
Company: Atomiser
Title: Co-founder
Based in: London
Can you tell us a bit about the company’s history and its roster?
I co-run Atomiser with my friend Tom. We’ve been putting on shows in London since late 2023, focusing on multigenerational and eclectic lineups. A big part of our philosophy is about putting real care and intention into. In this kind of non-linear time, we find ourselves in, where an album from how many years ago might suddenly find new listeners online, it feels important to support artists who are still here and want to play and therefore bring these connections to the forefront between generations, genres, and communities.
And can you tell us a bit about the acts you personally work with at this moment?
We’ve booked artists like Chuquimamani-Condori, Mica Levi, Joanne Robertson, A.R. Kane, Double Virgo, and many others – from long-established names to newer artists making their first moves. Our most recent show was our biggest yet featuring Xiu Xiu, The Wolfgang Press and Charles Hayward (of This Heat) headlining with a solo set. We are also in the process of setting up a label side to Atomiser which would put on more local music from friends such as James Heath, an outsider rock musician and Sydenham High Road, an ambient dub pop slacker rock project/band.
What was the moment you decided you wanted to work with music?
First and foremost, I’m a filmmaker – I’ve made a fair few music videos over the years, namely a couple for the rapper MIKE over the years and that’s how I initially found my footing in music business. I’ve always been around that world though: going to gigs, meeting artists, and being part of those communities. Over time, I started to notice patterns such as the way certain scenes get overlooked, or how live music can feel transactional rather than intentional etc. That led to a desire to do try my hand at doing something. So, it wasn’t one specific moment, more a gradual pull toward doing it in a way that felt grounded and thoughtful.
Which acts are you looking forward to seeing this year at SPOT?
Fine and Elias Rønnenfelt, we’ve booked both before and they’re always great live. Also very interested to see Alba Akvama and SLIM0. That said, I’m mostly keen to discover a few new names I don’t know yet.
Best show you’ve ever seen hands down?
Way too hard to pick just one. But (not to toot my own horn) Charles Hayward at the Atomiser day show last year felt like a spiritual experience, surreal but glorious. More recently, I saw Mary Jane Dunphe at a Scenic Route night in London and she was simply beyond brilliant.
