Vi glæder os til at møde Kaput Her følger en kort profil af Kaput’s Editor in Chief, Thomas Venker.
Magazine Name: Kaput – Magazin für Insolvenz & Pop
Year Founded: 2015
Your Name: Thomas Venker
Title: Editor in Chief / Publisher
Key feature of the magazine: Kaput is made by a lot of passionate people, many also active as artists in the fields of music, film, art and literature. So we get a very special perspective on the cultural topics around. We see ourselves primarily as a digital magazine. Kaput publishes in both English and German – a reaction to the globalization of cultural journalism we’re experiencing. As the subtitle “Insolvenz & Pop“ says we want to debate the economic status quo of cultural working processes and talk with the artists about their struggle in the modern digital age.
What bands are you into these days? Jamie xx, Kendrick Lamar, Lena Willikens, Robert Hood, Holly Herndon, Fanal, Xosar, Danielle de Picciotto, Helena Hauff, Robert Wyatt, Barnt, Mutter, Jens Friebe, Jungle, Linda Perhacs, Kate Tempest… so much going on, so much great music our there!
Will this be you first trip to Denmark? No, I’ve travelled there once before, to Copenhagen. It must have been in 2003 or 2004, to see live shows and do interviews with Sigur Rós and Radiohead. I enjoyed that trip a lot. Very friendly people, an open atmosphere and outstanding good food I remember.
Who’s your favorite Danish artist? When Saints go Machine and their kind of side project Cancer.
