Here, you can meet:

Name: Daniel Burgess

Based in: London

Can you tell us a bit about the company’s history and its roster?

Domino Publishing is an independent music publisher representing over 2,000 writers for over 20 years. The company started in 2002 as a publishing venture by the renowned British Independent record label – Domino Records (Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Hot Chip) Now with offices in the UK, Europe and US, Domino Publishing has since grown into a worldwide publisher. The publishing company develops and nurtures the careers of a unique and eclectic roster of writers spanning across all genres.
Represented acts include: Wet Leg, Fontaines D.C., ML Buch, Big Thief/Adrianne Lenker, Kae Tempest, Blood Orange, Charlotte Adigery & Bolis Pupul, Son Lux, Stereolab, Tirzah, Jon Hopkins, Black Midi, 100 Gecs, Anna Calvi, The Jesus and Mary Chain.

And can you tell us a bit about the acts you personally work with at this moment?

I personally work across different genres and scenes, focusing on discovering and supporting more left-field voices within the industry. With a roster of around 15 writers, three specific writers to highlight are: the world-building maximalist IDM artist, Iglooghost. Masked tongue-in-cheek pop provocateur, Lynks and experimental American-Polish electronic duo, Bassvictim.

What was the moment you decided you wanted to work with music?

Studying at film school and falling head over heels in love with musical film scores and soundtracks from some of my favourite directors like David Lynch, Jonathan Glazer, Xavier Dolan, Lars Von Trier and Jean Luc Godard.

Which acts are you looking forward to seeing this year at SPOT?

Majke Voss, Fine, Eros For You, Ex.Girls, Elias Rønnenfelt, Ida Duelund, Xenia

Best show you’ve ever seen hands down?

I can’t choose between:
Bjork at The O2
Adrianne Lenker at The Barbican
Justice at Glastonbury Festival
Fontaines D.C. in Madrid
