In the weeks leading up to SPOT Festival 2026, we’ll be introducing you to the international industry professionals who have been invited to this year’s festival by Danish artists and music companies through MXD’s new invitation pool.

Here, you can meet:

Name: Filip Hiltmann
Company: Luger Sweden / Way Out West
Title: Head of Marketing – Way Out West
Based in: Stockholm, SE

Can you tell us a bit about the company’s history and its roster?

Luger was formed in Sandviken in 1991, initially working mainly with punk and related genres. Over time, the roster and musical orientation have evolved but the DIY mindset has always remained the same. Today we operate an agency representing acts in Scandinavia (Viagra Boys, Yung Lean, Miriam Bryant, Seinabo Say and more), we promote international acts touring Sweden and organize festivals.

In 2007, the Way Out West festival in Gothenburg was founded. Since then it has grown into one of Europe’s most innovative festivals and is currently celebrating four consecutive attendance records.

And can you tell us a bit about the acts you personally work with at this moment?

I mainly work with Way Out West, where I serve as Head of Marketing as well as with our internationally promoted shows. We have a strong 2026 ahead of us with Tame Impala, Olivia Dean, three Robyn shows and countless smaller club and theatre shows throughout Sweden.

With Way Out West, we’re once again seeing record interest sales wise. With a lineup including Lorde, Gorillaz, The Cure, Blood Orange, Dijon, Geese and many more this edition is going to be special.

What was the moment you decided you wanted to work with music?

With music, I’ve always been curious and eager to learn more. I started my career doing stagehand work as local crew for international tours coming into Stockholm. Seeing how everything worked from the inside (and getting to see a lot of free concerts!) was highly formative for me and definitely made me want to explore the business side of things as well. After that, I moved into music journalism, and suddenly my unclear career path felt started to feel very clear.

Which acts are you looking forward to seeing this year at SPOT?

I think Denmark has such a flourishing scene right now, with the Cph+ movement leading the way. Seeing acts such as Soap Horse, Tender Youth and A Good Year will be very exciting.

For anyone interested in discovering Swedish acts, I can highly recommend Olga Myko – she’s got the full package.

Best show you’ve ever seen hands down?

Million dollar question, there are so many! A recent one I hold close to my heart was Refused’s final show in their hometown Umeå in December last year. Everything around that show was just so special, and seeing them calling it quits where it all began was a magical experience to say the least.
