I ugerne op til SPOT Festival 2023 introducerer vi dig for de internationale branchepersoner, som danske artister og musikselskaber har inviteret til årets festival via MXDs nye invitationspulje (læs mere om denne her).

Her kan du møde:

Name: Benjamin Coyault

Company: Velvetica Music

Title: Sync Manager / Business Affairs

Based in: Paris, France

Can you tell us a bit about the company’s history and its roster?

Velvetica Music is an independent music publishing company, founded 10 years ago as a publishing administrator for the main film producers in France. While furthering its expertise on music rights for audiovisual programs, Velvetica Music has also become one of main independent publishing administrators and sub-publishers in France, with a 12-person team dedicated to rights administration, income tracking, and sync representation.

And can you tell us a bit about the acts you personally work with at this moment?

Being part of the sync team, it is my duty and pleasure to have a precise knowledge of our partners’ catalogues, and thus personally work for all the artists we represent. That being said, our Danish partners especially have good taste, and I’m excited to be working with elegant pop by Kleo or Lucky Lo, cutting-edge electronics by Rangleklods from Tambourhinoceros, unique and tongue-in-cheek music by Ki! or PowerSolo from Crunchy Frog, or contemporary alternative r’n’b by ELBA from Nordic Music Society.

What was the moment you decided you wanted to work with music?

I can’t really remember a specific moment, I’ve always loved music more than anything else, and could never imagine working in another field.

Which acts are you looking forward to seeing this year at SPOT?

I’m looking forward to finally see some of the artists I work for perform live, such as Lucky Lo, Rangleklods, Sista Bossen or Tomode. I’m also curious to discover many more musicians.

Best show you’ve ever seen hands down?

I’m a huge fan of Molly Nilsson and go see her every time she comes to Paris. Her live setup being so minimalistic, she lets her charisma and the beauty of her songs shine through without frills, which I find really powerful and moving.
