Leading up to Sounds Like Roskilde, February 23rd, we’ll introduce you to some of the many international industry professionals that you can meet at the event. We’re looking forward to seeing Hannah Overton of Secretly Group.

Name: Hannah Overton

Agency name: Secretly Group, London

Can you tell us a bit about the label?
Secretly Group, fiercely independent and owner-run, includes the labels Dead Oceans, Jagjaguwar, Secretly Canadian and Numero Group releasing music by artists such as Bon Iver, ANOHNI, Angel Olsen, The War On Drugs and The Tallest Man On Earth. This year we are celebrating our 21st anniversary. The label group was founded and is still headquartered in Bloomington, Indiana, now with satellite offices and our own staff in New York, Chicago, LA, Austin, London, Paris and Amsterdam. We operate truly global release strategies for our artists with partners in every primary and secondary territory around the world. Running alongside the labels is Secretly Publishing and Secretly Distribution, of whom distribute and label manage up to 30 independent labels worldwide including Captured Tracks, Tri Angle, Constellation and Ghostly International.

Can you now tell us a bit about your job?
I am the General Manager for Secretly Group, overseeing the European operations for the labels Dead Oceans, Jagjaguwar and Secretly Canadian.

What came first for the acts you have had most success with in the last 5 years, label or agent?
Some of our artists are represented by an agent on signing and some are not. We will always work quickly to ensure that any artist without representation quickly finds one.

Can you name a few acts you are working on in the past months?
Bon Iver, Angel Olsen, Jens Lekman, Slowdive

Best festival live show you’ve ever seen hands down?
Friendly Fires, White Stripes, Bon Iver, Blur, Beyoncé, Mogwai.
